The Mediterranean is not often associated with fashion and creativity however the sixth edition of MadeinMedi is determined to change this.
With an exceptional location in the heart of the Mediterranean, MadeinMedi be held in Noto, Sicily (a UNESCO World Heritage site) from the 4th to the 10th June 2012. This spectacular location will host a variety of events including catwalk shows for the duration of the Mediterranean fashion and design week, showcasing the work of talented up and coming designers. The event, held by Marco Aloisi, is sponsored by the Italian heritage and arts council (MIBAC), the Regional Province of Siracusa, the city of Noto, the Association for Industrial Design (ADI) and the Italian Association of the Interior (AIPI).
These organizations make Sicily the centre of creativity, fashion and design in the Mediterranean. The sixth edition of MadeinMedi promises to be an inevitable path of art, fashion and creativity with a Mediterranean theme.
Events and exhibitions will go on throughout the week and MadeinMedi will close Saturday, the 9th of June with a catwalk showcasing the international designers. Designers such as Juan Vidal from Spain, Hein Juel from Seul, Corina Vladescu from Bucharest, Francesca Marotta from London, Sicilian-born designer who studied at the London College of Fashion. Directly from Dolce & Gabbana multibrand store Spiga 2 comes Viareggio-born designer Lamberto Petri;
Also from London Stefán Orschel Read, who studied at London’s Central St Martin will be showcasing exclusively for this event his new tailored menswear collection.
Both Lamberto Petri and Orschel Read showed their support to this year edition anticipating to the press their collection at MadeinMedi before Fashion Week.
In addition, the return of Antonio Attisano creativity, showing 8 looks from “Symphony No. 2″. This show celebrates the young designer from Licata who died unexpectedly 2 years ago.
A total of 110 looks make this event one not to be missed. Special guests from Berlin are the stylist Dario Cuci who will be coordinating fittings, casting and shows, from London Sergio Pacini will look after the selection of designers, the production and managing the international press office.
Also from London, photographer Brett Lloyd will be shooting a photographic diary of the shows and the backstage. ”Marco Aloisi, producer of the event explained that this year MadeinMedi has chosen Noto as he wanted to bring together tradition and innovation; the art of a prestigious location with the stylistic experimentation of young designers in the Mediterranean. MadeinMedi is the visible demonstration that Sicily and the Euro Mediterranean, produces extraordinary talent. “
