Marion Cotillard
is still the face of the “lady”

Dior, even under the new creative direction of Raf Simons, is sticking with old traditions.

The French Maison is keeping the gorgeous Marion Cotillard as the muse of its most famous bag the “Lady Dior”.

We’ve seen her in Shanghai, in Paris, and now the aristocratic and sunny beaches of the Hamptons are the set of this new advertising campaign.

She looks beaming for photographer Jean-Baptiste Mondino, and we believe this might be the best campaign so far.

Helmut Newton and his women
Exclusive exhibition in Berlin

As always Berlin shows itself as the crib of international culture.

It’s now running at the Helmut Newton foundation an exhibition of pictures from his famous first books: “white women”, “sleepless nights” and “big nudes”.

These images, taken in the 70’s and 80’s, depict not only the woman of this time but also the same female protagonist on the verge of becoming more than “just a woman”. Helmut’s women are bodies whose natural perfection dazzles, but they also wear the sophisticated make-up of the femme fatale who’s set a trap you cannot escape.

The absence of eye contact and the distance created by the almost “peeping tom point of view” creates this impression of intimidation and inaccessibility, while the light and texture allows you to “feel” the skin, creating this erotic tension that the world of fashion will try to make its. And speaking of fashion, here we have the perfect man-eater panoply: heavy jewelry, big stones, thick fabrics, stockings, fur and leather. Baroque and fetishist, Newton’s dominas-objets use of the almighty tools to bring men to their knees in order to satisfy their hunger.
Some of Newton’s most famous photos are there, and you will see them from a different point of view since the prints are of a size that will make you rediscover them entirely.

You think this is all? Of course not, the exhibition includes also never seen before photos.

So, let’s get going, the exhibit is located at the Helmut Newton Foundation in jebensstrasse 2, Berlin.
Opening hours are: tuesday – sunday 10 a.m. – 6 p.m. thursday 10 a.m. – 10 p.m.

In the meantime, here you can find a couple of pictures.
