JEAN PAUL GAULTIER
Spring Haute Couture Paris 2011

The Gaultier’s show in Paris was again based on a mix of different styles. The genius of fashion presented on the catwalk a perfect fusion between the English punk-rock and the French can-can. The unusual parallel between the famous dance introduced in Paris in the mid-19th century and the punk style started in 1970 focus the attention on the strong impact, and the shocking aspects that those two form had on the pubblic and on the culture of the time.
The punk references is visible in the models’ multicoloured ‘Mohican’ wigs; and the frivolity of the once-scandalous can-can was echoed in ruffles, frills and flounces.
For this collection the star Farida Khelfa was choose by the designer for interpret the style of a rebellious fierce woman that is willing to break the rules.
