The Mediterranean is not often associated with fashion and creativity however the sixth edition of MadeinMedi is determined to change this.

With an exceptional location in the heart of the Mediterranean, MadeinMedi be held in Noto, Sicily (a UNESCO World Heritage site) from the 4th to the 10th June 2012. This spectacular location will host a variety of events including catwalk shows for the duration of the Mediterranean fashion and design week, showcasing the work of talented up and coming designers. The event, held by Marco Aloisi, is sponsored by the Italian heritage and arts council (MIBAC), the Regional Province of Siracusa, the city of Noto, the Association for Industrial Design (ADI) and the Italian Association of the Interior (AIPI).

MADEINMEDI 2011
"Domino" by Virginia Cammaroto

“It’s a brave experience” said Marco Aloisi, ideator of the MIM, “because denies the prejudice that the heart of Italian fashion and design is Milano: MADEINMEDI is the palpable demonstration that Sicily, and the whole  Euro-Mediterranean Area, are talented”. Not just known names but young talents as well: “They need an important showcase in which introduce their creative flair. In the fashion business there is less and less space for students that want propose themselves as a valuable alternative to the established names.  We are trying to reverse the trend” explained Gabriella Ferrara, Director of Accademia Euromediterranea, the fashion, jewellery and global design school that led the 10th June evening show and interactive display.
Taking a look to Madeinmedi 2011 i found interesting the collection of  Virginia Cammaroto. Graduated in Catania at the  Accademia Euromediterranea the young fashion designer was inspired by a film of Tony Scott  ”Domino”, the result is a mini collection of dresses and tops in leather that  shows   the talent and the  creativity of a young fashion designer.

Here some pictures of the collection by Marco Spartà.

Take a look!!!!
