Nature could serve as a source of inspiration for a new way of designing. If we learn from its experience in the field of design, processes and lifestyles, we can develop intelligent systems, ingenious products and effective partnerships. Nature can also prove highly inspiring in the field of fashion. Above all, she can teach us to make more efficient use of materials and smarter constructions. In this regard, rapidly developing innovative technologies, such as 3D printing, may prove beneficial by offering us means of imitating nature more accurately in our designs. Nature actually functions by making efficient use of raw materials and pooling resources. This approach can also be applied in the fashion sector. The smart use of materials and cross fertilisation among various disciplines could lead to a new design perspective. The concentration of strengths and sharing of burdens creates a win-win situation for all players, a synergy.

These Yuketen shoes are made from ethically sourced, full grain black leather and leopard print pony hair. They fasten with a thick, brown leather lace that passes through four metal eyelets and the moccasin toe is hand-stitched. The upper is sewn to a heavy, black ‘Vibram’ wedge sole with sturdy treading, and the shoes are fully lined with a natural coloured leather lining. The shoes also feature a hand-stitched leather insole embossed with the Yuketen logo.

Dutch designer Iris van Herpen started in 2007 with her own label, she presented her fall 2011 couture collection “Epicalism” in Paris. This collection is characterized by futuristic volume and interlaced fabrics on  structured dresses each design is intricate comprised of black,white, beige and grey colors and they were made out of unconventional fabrics, like a mix of silk and metal. Iris van Herpes collaborated from the spring/summer collection with United Nude´s company in the design process of shoes and hats. Season by season she shows us her creativity to renew the female form with innovation and ability.
